We went to Hong Kong and China in February 2005 and visited Shanling's new factory. It is located up on a hill, in the Shekou district of Shanzhen city.
It consists of two modern-looking buildings with an area of 40,000 square feet and a total of 120 employees.
These beautiful buildings are surrounded by shrubs and trees. It is unquestionably a wonderful place to work and live (there is a dormitory for staff and workers). This quiet, peaceful environment helps to explain why Shanling succeeds in designing and manufacturing such attractive-looking and great-sounding equipment.
Main entrance of the factory
A massive boulder carved with Chinese characters forms a monument at the main entrance. Nice hill view in the distance !
This is the main listening room at Shanling. The room's dimensions are 3.5 m x 6 m x 9 m, expressing the golden ratio of (H x W x D) 1 x 1.5 x 2.5. Acoustic treatment includes custom-made diffusors and abfusors.
The reference system we saw was made up of equipment from B&W, MBL, McIntosh and Accuphase while the digital sources were from Shanling.
